The Surrogacy Process

What’s involved in the surrogacy process from consultation to birth.

The Surrogacy Process

Eggceptional Surrogates only works with gestational surrogates. In gestational surrogacy, an embryo is created with the intended mother’s eggs or those of an egg donor and fertilized with the sperm of the intended father or a sperm donor. The fertilized egg, or embryo, is then transferred to the surrogate who carries the baby to term.

1. INITIAL CONSULTATION

You will have a free consultation with Eggceptional Surrogates to go over how our program works and answer all of your questions. During this meeting, we want to hear your story and what your ideal surrogate would be like. We will suggest possible candidates and review the profiles of those that best meet your criteria.

2. MEETING YOUR SURROGATE

We will then schedule video conference calls or in person meetings with those you have chosen. We will be with you during this meeting to introduce everyone and give you the opportunity to ask questions and decide if both of your feel that you would like to work together.

3. SIGNING OF AGREEMENTS

Both you and the surrogate will sign all of the necessary legal agreements and intended parents will send funds to begin the surrogacy process.

4. SURROGATE SCREENING

Your surrogate will be medically screened by your fertility clinic. She will also undergo a psychological evaluation. At this time, the intended parents will also need to have all of their screening completed as well as their psychological evaluation. Eggceptional Surrogates has already completed a background check and home visit for every surrogate in our database.

5. TRANSFER OF THE EMBRYO(S)

Once your surrogate has been cleared, your doctor will transfer the embryo(s) with the hopes of a pregnancy.

6. PREGNANCY

When the good news of pregnancy is achieved, we will remain your primary support as you prepare for the birth of your child. We will be there to ensure that you and your surrogate are prepared to welcome your child home.

7. LEGAL PROCEDURES

Your lawyer will speak with the court and prepare everything necessary for the baby(ies) birth certificate. Intended parents who live outside the United States will have their attorney direct them on obtaining necessary legal documentation to get home with the proper court orders and passports.

8. BIRTH

Prior to the birth of your child, the hospital will be contacted to ensure they know who you are and why you are there.
